Sheila R. Carruthers, MBA-PR, CMC
Sheila brings a wealth of knowledge to everything that she’s involved in. Using experience gained from a professional career has taken her from international banking to the Diplomatic Corps to managing two major Canadian charitable foundations, Sheila started and currently operates her own successful consulting business - CSR Strategies Inc.
Sheila applies her experience as well as her academics (she holds an MBA specialized in Communications Management & Public Relations as well as being a Certified Management Consultant) not only to CSR Strategies Inc., but also to mentoring others.
She is currently teaching a course on CSR in the University of Calgary’s Continuing Education Faculty; as part of its Public Relations Management Certificate Program as well as being an Advisor for learners attending Royal Roads University.
Volunteer work is important to Sheila. Her support in the community has earned her the Alberta Centennial Medal, for "outstanding contribution to the province of Alberta" and also the Scouts Canada Commemorative Centennial Medal. Sheila currently serves on the Board of Governors for Scout Canada and Chairs the Institute of Nonprofit Studies Advisory Committee at Mount Royal University. Sheila is also Liaison between the Scouts Canada Board of Governors and its Foundation and volunteers with the International Association for Business Communicators (IABC) Calgary chapter , IABC’s Company of One , and Canadian Association of Management Consultants (CMC-Canada) .
